Ttech

T-Tech aka Tobias Stüve is a 28 year old producer from Stockholm, Sweden. He started to play the drums when he was 10 years old, but got tired after 2 years when his teacher gave him a notebook (he didn't want to play after somebody's directions, he wanted to create beats from his head). In 1991 he got into Techno and Breakbeats. When he for the first time heard "Charly" with Prodigy he knew that he wanted to create music in the future. In 1997 he bought his first synthesizer and computer with his very first pay cheque, and started to create his own music. In the beginning he made all kinds off dance music: House, Techno, Drum&bass etc. but in 2001 he decided to go with Drum&bass full out. His music is a mix between harmonic melodies, heavy neuro basslines with funky beats. Today he is releasing tunes on Sound Artillery and has forthcoming release on Unholy Recordings.

Sidius aka Saam Hodivala developed a love for electronic music from an early age with bands like The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers featuring heavily on his Walkman throughout his teens. After a transitional period through what was then Big Beat and into Hip Hop, he was introduced to the sound that would change his life forever.

After being given a copy of Man Of Steal by Vinyl Syndicate and then being introduced to mixing, Drum and Bass became an obsession.Initially Urban Takeover was his biggest influence, but as he delved deeper into the sound, tracks from Ram Records & Moving Shadow became a staple diet of his belt driven turntables.

Whilst at university in Southampton, Sidius began to build a name for himself, running a bi-monthly night and DJ'ing at house parties and free parties most weekends to rave reviews. But moving to London proved to be his biggest step as he waded knee deep into the unsigned scene and hooked up with artists such as Wayz, Blal & Felon who were on the same journey. Over the years as DnB developed, so too did his tastes, with a definite turn towards the darker, heavier (but always rolling) sound. Artists such as Black Sun Empire & Corrupt Souls became a heavy influence alongside producers such as Sub Focus & Bad Robot who were representing the techier side of Jump Up.

After a move from Reason to Cubase, he wrote his first tune that he felt was release worthy, Nebulus agreed, and decided to make it the fourth track on the Null Ray ep on Sound Artillery.
Now, 7 years on from his first introduction to the scene, his own music is starting to resemble that which has been playing in his head all along, and with solid collaborations in the pipeline with Felon, Outatime & others, this space definately needs to be watched!!!

FELON

Originally from Plymouth, Matt Stevens first appeared on the D&B scene under the alias Kompressor, winning BBC Radio 1Xtra's Cutting Room competition in June 2004, and featuring on the 'Best Of The Cutting Room' CD compilation, which was distributed to thousands who attended the 1Xtra Bass Tour in 2005. Having received good feedback from L Double and his then label-mate, Phobia, his production took another step up, and Matt began to invest more time and energy into his production.

Being notoriously poor at self-promotion, Matt kept a low profile until he moved to London, where he met up with Blal and Sidius through the wonders of the internet (DOA and DnB Arena, of course...). He returned to Plymouth due to Uni commitments, where he carried on developing his production skills, and began to DJ at several nights in the South West, and even put on a few nights himself.

Uni came to an end and Matt moved back to London, now having adopted Felon as a moniker. Under this guise, he started to get noticed by several labels and established DJs. Now, with several forthcoming releases on Ennex Records, Suicide Watch, and of course Sound Artillery, on both vinyl and MP3 in the pipeline, he is beginning to break through. Felon is now recieving bookings to DJ in Europe as well as London, and is also a resident DJ at the wicked This Way Up events, alongside Sound Artillery colleague, Blal, and of course, Displaced of Ruse Records.

Felon has recently collaborated with Sidius, choosing to combine forces a wreak havoc on the dance floor and from the results so far, this looks like a promising direction for the pair.

Listen out for Felon's solo and collaborative work as he puts over 10 years of production into practice, bringing u some grimy business!

Although a new face to the world of production, Redhanded has a solid 10 year DJ history behind him, kick started by a residency on SW London station Code Red FM. Since then he has performed on many stations, FM and internet radio alike. Redhanded has played at venues all across the UK and around Europe. Some of the artists he has performed alongside including Moving Fusion, Bad Company, Brockie & Ed Solo, Nightbreed, Dready, Stealthy, Skibba, Dett, IC3, Aftershock Kru, Terrorist, TT-Ace, Decoy, Dappa, Blal

His own music is heavily influenced by the darkside dancefloor killers that have dominated his DJ sets over the years and after his first Vinyl release in Sound Artillery in early 2008, expect .

MATERIA

Materia aka Jan Warnstam started his music career on an Amiga 500 in 1988. Since then he has produced many styles of electronic music and seen the birth of genres such breakbeat, jungle and drum'n'bass in the early 90s. He started acquiring more dedicated hardware and soon decided to take his music production to a new level, and to a wider audience. In August 2000 he participated in a remix competition on the Swedish Radio P3 show Morgonpasset, followed by sending of demos to P3 Dans and P3 Demo in September under the name of Soil of Sound. In spring 2001 a 15 minute special show dedicated to his previous and present music was featured in P3 show Syntax Error.

In April 2001, Back to Plastic founder Thomas Bergsten approached wanting to start a new drum'n'bass label to release tracks on vinyl. Pressure Cut Recordings was a fact and has so far released one 12 inch vinyl with tracks by Jan under the production alias Hidden Lab. Parallell to this Jan also got a breakbeat remix signed to a compilation album on Invisible Records in Chicago, using the monicker Soil of Sound. This compilation album was released in September 2001. During 2002 Jan was also signed to the Swedish breakbeat label Sound of Habib based in Gothenburg, and the first release on this label consists of two tracks on a compilation album coming autumn 2002.

In 2004, Materia was contacted by London based Basic Recordings and the track Impact was signed to the label. The 12-inch was released in summer 2004 with a Paradox remix on the flipside. To celebrate this a release party was held at HQ in Oxford in May where Materia aka Tectonic played alongside Mattrick, Chemical and Loxy from Metalheadz.
Following this release in 2005 were two digital releases on Canadian online outlet Earwaks (Black Smoke, Superimposed and Mindbomb) and Australian label Kinematic (Collision Domain), and in 2006 a three track EP was released on the German label Tilt Recordings (Waypoint, Leaving and Cordless).

The future looks bright with forthcoming releases in different formats on labels like Secure, Digital Tunes Dubs, Intelligence Audio, Oni, iDJ and Unholy, more international gigs in the pipeline and the weekly radio show running as strong as ever. If you want to book Materia aka Tectonic for a varied set of deep, technical and musical drum'n'bass, electronica or jazz, don't hesitate to get in contact right now. More information on the DJ aspect is available on the DJ Tectonic website linked from the top navigation.

PROSPECT

I've been djing now for ten years, and i love jungle drum & bass with a passion. I first started off listening to pirate radio, listening to stations such as pulse fm and weekend rush to name a few, this soon saw me going to my first raves, trible dance and seduction and world dance where i just got hooked to the music. Following the music through to 1995, i brought some decks and started to teach myself how to mix. 1998 saw me meet up with a local mc called flexa. meeting up on a regular basis we took recording demo tapes more and more serious. Today Dj Prospect has been working with Mc Flexa for over eight years now, going under the stage name PTF - Producing the flavor. We have have our own style focusing on the darker side of drum & bass. being influenced by lables such as commercial succide, metalheadz, violence and producers such as Break, calyx, noisia, This is a progression we have made together from when we first meet up in 1998. adding Mc Flexas strong lyrical content we have developed our style. Regular shows on internet radio station, such as UkRumble, Breakpirates, Kunninmindz, ect, soon lead to Prospect & Flexa gaining a weekley show on Origin fm London pirate radio. With the experience PTF have gained from radio and playing events such as breakin science - club origin - tech nology. we are now gaining bookings from over seas, and March 06 saw PTF Perform @ Break it in Slovakia. At present you can catch myself and Mc Flexa every Saturday on London’s leading Origin 95.1fm playing 4-6pm GMT. We can also be found hosting room 2 of VIP BASS @ club herbal, coving the earlier days for Jungle. We also represent darkland agency and can be booked from there agency. Representing DBR Recordings and Sound Artillery recordings has given me inspiration to start to produce my own sound which i am working on in the studio, so watch this space!

FLEXA

Influenced by rave music from the early nighties, this versatile lyricist first started to create his own style back in 1996 when he took up the name Flexa.

It was because of his passion and drive to be involved within the underground music scene that he first came to write lyrics, it was from here his quest to become an MC started.

1998 was the year that he was introduced to a local DJ whos goes by the name of Prospect: collectively they are known as PtF (Performers for the Future) Having built up a local reputation, in 2000 it was time that they broadened their horizons.

They both joined Origin 95.2fm in Oct 2000 and played various time slots up untill August 2002 when they were given a prime time slot (Saturdays 4-6pm) which they have held down ever since. From here on Flexa has built up his reputation alongside Prospect, by collaborating with many DJs and MCs on the station.

Having played on other radio stations such as Ruud Awakening / Code 10 / Fusion / Kunninmindz.com / ukrumble.com / breakpirates.com / londonliveanddirect.com / lifefm.co.uk / cc-radio.com / subliminalmuzik.co.uk / drumandbassworldwide.co.uk, Flexa has worked hard to break his way through into the drum and bass scene.

He has played alongside some of the scenes best known DJs that include Kenny Ken, Nicky Blackmarket, Randall, Phantasy, Bailey, Aphrodite, Bryan G, Simon Bassline Smith, Mampi Swift, Hype plus many others at venues up and down the country and abroad in countries such as Slovakia, Holland, Spain, Wales and at events that include Innovation / Dreamscape / One Nation / Breakin Science / Clash of the Titans / MC Convention to name a few of the more established promotions.

Flexa has developed his own style and flow. With his deep lyricism, crowd hyping and hosting abilities, Flexa is versatile enough to MC over any form of Drum and Bass to create and enhance the vibe of the music.

Signed to Highly Blessed in 2004 (run by Paul Ibiza, Runtingz and MC Shabba D), Flexa is now building upon the foundations he has set for a strong future within the scene. He has been one of the resident mc's at MC Convention since being signed and has played at events up and down the country.

Love for the music, an urge to push the boundaries and a purpose to bring positive vibes are the key elements that draw this MC to the microphone.

Prospect and Flexa have developed their own style of DJ/MC combination. They stand out from the rest as they play the darker side of drum and bass, but with a dancefloor vibe. Their sets roll continuiously from start to finish with a seamless blend of futuristic beats and precise lyricisim that keeps the listener / raver entertained.

In 2004, PtF started their own night Culture with the view to promote all of the genres that Drum and Bass has now branched into. PtF were also signed up to Darkland Agency and can be booked in Europe via their website. This year has seen PtF become residents at VIP BASS which is held at Herbal, London and run by DJ Sparxx (Who's Next??)

Deep into production and with bookings coming in from London, the UK and abroad, 2006 was a year that brought nothing but good things for Flexa.

2007 is set to be a big year. Look out for tracks, live performances, radio shows and studio mixes coming your way.
